ROMEO
BOXING, ANTI-BULLYKIDS’ CLASSES
Romeo Montana began boxing at the mere age of 7, when his father enrolled him in an at-risk program in Bairoa Boxing Gym in Caguas, Puerto Rico. Not only was it a place where he learned to box, but also a place where he met positive pro-fighters and people who have impacted his life.
At the time, working under the supervision of Julio Delgado and Evangelista Cotto, he learned the science of boxing and worked with some of the best boxing champions and top contenders of all time. Before focusing on his own boxing career, he worked his way up the ranks in the Golden Gloves and even went on to try out to fight for his country in the Olympics. A terrible motorcycle accident put him in the hospital for 6 months and ultimately ended his pursuit of a pro career, but not his love for boxing.
After the rehab and therapy, he returned to the gym, where he became a sparring partner for numerous pro-fighters from around the country. He also stayed true to his roots and began teaching at-risk kids how to box, keeping them off the streets.
To escape the cold winters of New York, he decided to make South Florida his home, where he was accepted by South Beach Boxing with open arms. He continues to pass-on his vast knowledge and years of experience to others who share the same passion for the sport of boxing.
He lives and teaches under the motto, “If boxing and staying fit was easy, everyone would be in shape.”
Romeo is available for one-on-one and group personal training sessions. Please contact the gym at 305.712.6041 to schedule personal training sessions.
