Yvette & Shae
I originally came to the gym because I wanted to put my son into the boxing classes. I felt he needed to build confidence to be able to deal with any issues that may arise at school or in his everyday life. It didn’t take long for me to get sucked in. I was given the opportunity to try a couple of classes and before I knew it, I was hooked!
I was a little out of shape when I first came because I was unable to run the way I use to when Shae was younger, and I could put him in a stroller and do it. I used to run 5k & 10k races with him when he was little, but as he got older it became more difficult.
I was always interested in boxing, but for me to join something like this there must be a mental connection, not just exercise, and I definitely found that here. This place gives us affection and support and has a personal touch that is unusual.
This gives me an excuse to focus on only me for a whole hour and forget about everything outside of these walls. I feel more confident in myself and am turning more heads!
I noticed a difference in myself immediately, but a real physical difference within the first two months.
South Beach Boxing is all about community. I find it really helps with stress relief, and best of all it gives me a common ground with my son. It has given us a comradery, something we can share and talk about together. We’re building forever memories together.
Shae says he loves the sparring because it teaches him how to defend himself and has given him a chance to meet other people.
We would tell anyone to go ahead and try it. It looks hard and is hard, but it is so worth it.
