Sammy was born in Cairo Egypt and was introduced to martial arts at the age of 16, when he trained in Aikido and Kyokoshin Karate. At the time, there was no competition available in either style of the sport until 1992, when Egypt created a Federation for Sanda, a Chinese style kickboxing. That is how his life in competitive sports started. He went on to win State and National Championships for 3 consecutive years in 1993, 1994, and 1995.
A knee injury in 1995 ended his kickboxing career; yet it led him to boxing. It became his new passion and he never looked back. He won the State Boxing championship in Egypt that very same year.
A year later, he moved to the United States and settled in New York City. He continued training at gyms all over the city like the famous Gleason’s in Brooklyn, Coney Island Boxing, Starrlett City boxing in East New York, and Trinity Boxing Gym. This led him to compete in the New York Golden Gloves where he won the Open Class Competition in 2000 and 2001.
As a pro, he fought in several divisions; Cruiser Weight, Light Heavy Weight, and Heavy Weight.
His passion for boxing includes teaching the sport. Throughout my career, he taught fighters, aspiring fighters, and anyone who wanted to learn how to box. It brought him great pleasure to help people achieve their goals and fall in love with boxing the way he did.
In July of 2013, he moved to Miami and joined the South Boxing family. “I am joyful to be here doing what I love. I am also certainly looking forward to use my years of experience to help as many people learn the sport, and achieve their goals.”
